Takahiro Hachigo, CEO of Honda, shared his insights about what the Honda lineup will look like in 14 years. The takeaway message is that it will be very green.
Hachigo predicts that over 65 percent of global sales will be in electric vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and hydrogen vehicles like the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell. That's not just green, it's verdant as a spring garden!
Honda's first plug-in hybrid is slated to hit DCH Honda of Oxnard and other North American dealerships in 2018.
Though Honda posted record sales in the U.S. and China in 2015, Hachigo commented that "People working on production and development have been facing increased hours and workload because we pursued speed and scale that went beyond our capabilities."
His new strategy seems to be shifting away from volume, and toward value. "We want to focus our development resources for electrification," he said.
We're looking forward to seeing our already efficient new Honda inventory get even greener as the brand pursues electric vehicle solutions. Visit us in Oxnard, CA for a test drive.
