The 2012 Pilot took the top spot in the "USA Today, MotorWeek and Cars.com $37k and Under SUV Shootout."  7 SUVs and crossovers were tested for 3 days in the areas of gas mileage, storage, and features and comfort, and the editor-in-chief touted the Pilot as "the perfect SUV for buyers who want to comfortably haul the entire family and all of their gear."

The 2011 Pilot is the Edmunds.com "2011 Lowest Annual True Cost to Own® SUV $35K-$45K". Edmunds.com used its proprietary TCO® data for the period July 29, 2010 to April 14, 2010 to develop the list of 2011 award winners[1].
